The nation's premier 'Thermal Power + Molten Salt' energy storage project, developed by the Suzhou Power Plant of State Power Investment Corporation's Anhui Company, has commenced operations with a remarkable capacity of 1,000 megawatt-hours. This innovative project leverages molten salt thermal storage technology, effectively functioning as a 'power bank' for traditional coal-fired power units. It stores surplus electricity during off-peak times and releases it during peak demand hours, thus resolving the inherent conflict between heating and power supply in coal-fired power stations. This advancement not only enhances the flexibility of unit regulation but also boosts the grid's overall response capabilities.
