As per the Federal Register, the United States Department of Commerce has taken the decision to revoke the authorization granted to Samsung and SK Hynix, allowing them to procure American semiconductor manufacturing equipment in China. This move significantly heightens the challenges faced by these two companies in their chip production endeavors within China. Prior to this, both firms had been exempted from the comprehensive restrictions imposed by the US in 2022 on the sale of semiconductor equipment to China.
