On Monday, Google's Vice President of Security, Heather Adkins, revealed that Big Sleep, their advanced large language model designed for vulnerability research, has identified and reported 20 security vulnerabilities in various widely-used open-source software to the respective software developers. Big Sleep, a collaborative effort between Google's AI division DeepMind and its elite hacking team Project Zero, marks its debut in vulnerability disclosure. The discovered vulnerabilities primarily reside in open-source applications such as FFmpeg, an audio and video processing library, and ImageMagick, an image editing toolset. Through in-depth analysis of these software's codebases, Big Sleep has effectively pinpointed potential vulnerability areas, contributing significantly to enhanced software security.
