On July 26, during the Meteorological Conference of the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, the China Meteorological Administration proudly announced the official release of 'Fengyu', the world's first comprehensive AI-based forecast model for space weather. Developed under the leadership of the National Satellite Meteorological Center in collaboration with Nanchang University and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., 'Fengyu' is designed to mitigate the adverse effects of solar storms on vital infrastructures, including global satellite operations. This groundbreaking model surpasses the limitations of traditional numerical forecasting methods by encompassing the entire spectrum of solar wind, magnetosphere, and ionosphere dynamics.
