In response to the trademark infringement lawsuit brought by hardware startup Iyo, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has leveled criticism, revealing that Iyo's CEO had previously sought to secure investment or acquisition from OpenAI, only to be turned down. Iyo has accused OpenAI and associated entities of unfair competition and trademark infringement in connection with their acquisition of Jonathan Ive's AI startup io, and has filed for a temporary restraining order to compel OpenAI to halt the use of the "IYO" or similar logos. Altman has publicly posted email screenshots on social media as evidence of Iyo's proactive pursuit of a transaction and collaboration. To date, Iyo has yet to respond to requests for comment.
