Google has unveiled its 'Safety Charter' in India, aimed at augmenting research and development in AI-driven fraud detection and anti-scam technologies to tackle the escalating issue of digital fraud in the country. To this end, Google has established a dedicated Security Engineering Center focusing on three pivotal areas: cybercrime, cybersecurity for enterprises and critical infrastructure, and ethical AI practices. Furthermore, Google is partnering with India's Ministry of Home Affairs to elevate public awareness regarding cybercrime and utilizes technological solutions to block a substantial volume of suspicious messages and malicious apps on a monthly basis. Recognizing the potential risks associated with the misuse of AI tools, Google is developing frameworks to mitigate their exploitation by hackers and is issuing warnings about the threats posed by commercial surveillance technology vendors.
