Li Hang, the former leader of ByteDance AI Lab, has stepped down from his role and transitioned into a consultancy position, signaling a pivotal shift within ByteDance's core AI team. In February 2025, Wu Yonghui, a former vice president at Google DeepMind, joined ByteDance to spearhead the fundamental research of the large model Seed, under whom Li Hang will now report.
