Microsoft and GitHub have jointly announced their membership in the MCP Steering Committee, spearheaded by Anthropic, with the goal of fostering seamless integration between AI technologies and data storage systems. The MCP standard empowers AI models to effortlessly tap into a wide array of data sources and facilitates flexible, bidirectional interactions. Microsoft aims to incorporate MCP into its Azure cloud services and Windows 11, paving the way for developers to expose application functionalities for utilization by AI models via MCP in the near future. Furthermore, Microsoft is developing an advanced authorization standard to bolster security and is partnering with GitHub to introduce an MCP server registration service, aimed at streamlining management processes.
