A report from Nikkei Asian Review has revealed that, earlier this month, prior to the announcement of U.S. sanctions against NVIDIA chips, Chinese tech giants Alibaba, Tencent, and ByteDance placed substantial orders totaling billions of dollars for NVIDIA's H20 GPUs. The H20, the latest NVIDIA chip, has since been targeted by U.S. government sanctions. Notably, sources from Nikkei Asian Review have disclosed that Chinese companies had foreseen these sanctions as early as last year and had taken preemptive measures to prepare.
