On Wednesday of this week, at approximately 3 PM EST, the renowned video conferencing software Zoom encountered a widespread global technical outage, leaving users unable to access or join meetings as usual. The system alerted users that the site was inaccessible or suggested checking for spelling errors in Zoom.us. The outage persisted for roughly two hours, during which time over 60,000 outage reports were logged, before services gradually resumed normal operations. A Zoom spokesperson declined to provide further details on the root cause of the failure.
