At the 2026 Chachamaru Conference, Xiaomi’s Technical Committee Innovation Product Team introduced HachimoDock, an open-source AI hardware device. This versatile desktop AI gadget offers customizable features, including personalized desktop pets, voice-activated computer agents, smart home integration, and the ability to create custom components. With a self-manufacturing hardware cost of just around 150 yuan, it aims to make AI hardware more accessible, positioning itself as the go-to choice for beginners in Vibe Coding.
Users can collaborate with AI through voice commands to generate and operate new components, unlocking diverse functionalities. For instance, HachimoDock can serve as a microphone, a mini-game console, or a secondary desktop screen. Moreover, users can engage in voice interactions with the desktop pet, which can handle computer-based tasks such as researching information and organizing files. The pet displays task statuses and provides feedback through desktop-related updates. However, important operations requiring authorization still necessitate confirmation via the corresponding client.
HachimoDock also seamlessly integrates with Xiaomi Miloco, enabling voice control for home automation. The small screen transforms into a home control console, acting as an interactive hub for both the computer agent and smart home devices.
Currently, HachimoDock’s software source code is publicly available on GitHub, along with a hardware bill of materials, structural part models, and assembly tutorials. This allows users to modify the device according to their needs. By granting users the right to customize their devices, HachimoDock empowers everyone to experience the joy of creating AI hardware at an affordable cost.
