On October 15, 2026, OpenAI upgraded the ChatGPT browser extension, adding the ability to read content from already opened tabs, analyze information, and perform tasks, covering browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi. This update introduces two modes: Chat and Work. The Chat mode can read content across tabs, assisting users in comparing prices and organizing information; the Work mode can control the browser to perform operations such as downloading files, sending messages, and filling out forms. Additionally, the update brings new voice features and adds support for six new languages.
