The Mac version of Perplexity Computer has introduced an on-device mode that supports fully offline operation. It can perform tasks such as planning, reasoning, and file processing. File uploads to the cloud require user approval. Once authorized, this mode can access local files and integrate with apps like Notes, Messages, Mail, and Numbers, and is exclusively available to Perplexity Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers. Initially, two on-device models are offered: Qwen 3.6 and PPLX Pro, with a minimum device requirement of an Apple chip and 36GB of unified memory.
