Chinese scientists have conducted research demonstrating that the dendrites within a single neuron are capable of accomplishing crucial computational tasks involved in higher-order cognitive processes. The pertinent research findings have been published online in the esteemed international academic journal Science. This study challenges the long-held conventional belief that a single neuron serves merely as a basic network node in cognitive computing. Instead, it uncovers that cognitive computations, which underpin flexible behavior, can be carried out entirely within a single neuron.
