In the current year, both OpenAI and Anthropic have been locked in a fierce competition to roll out new models and tools aimed at luring developers, with their advertising ventures seemingly taking a backseat at first. Yet, the landscape has shifted dramatically.
In recent months, OpenAI has rolled out a slew of innovative products and tools, specifically designed to captivate advertisers, while simultaneously slashing its advertising rates. The latest figures indicate that this approach has paid off, drawing in a significant influx of new advertising clients.
Parallel to this, OpenAI is on a hiring spree. Data from Crustdata, an employee profile tracking platform, reveals that almost half of its roughly 140 advertising business staff were onboarded between July and September. Leading the charge in the advertising division is Dave Dorgan, a seasoned professional who boasts a 12-year tenure at Meta. Notably, Meta has also emerged as a key talent pool for OpenAI.
