On October 15, Meta unveiled its open-weight AI model, Muse Spark Open, and forged a collaboration with Apple to enhance its local performance on the Mac Studio. According to Meta, the model boasts an impressive 816 billion parameters in total, with roughly 42 billion parameters being actively utilized per inference. It accommodates a context window of up to 1 million Tokens and is chiefly tailored for programming, intricate reasoning, and AI agent-related tasks. By utilizing two Mac Studios, each equipped with M5 Ultra chips and 512GB of unified memory, users can now operate this expansive model within a desktop setting, thereby diminishing their dependence on cloud-based AI services.
