Epic Games has unveiled a preview edition of its innovative launcher, which harnesses the power of AI "atmospheric programming" technology. This new iteration boasts notable enhancements in both speed and responsiveness, coupled with a refreshed user interface. On average, the cold start-up time is a mere 5.47 seconds, marking a 46% improvement over Steam. Navigating between pages is now more seamless, while backend resource consumption has been significantly reduced. Moreover, the management of the game library and the downloading process have been streamlined for a better user experience. Nonetheless, it's important to note that the current preview version is not yet fully functional.
Previously, Epic had declared its intention to overhaul the launcher entirely, aiming to achieve a cold start-up speed five times faster than its predecessor. The renovation project commenced at the close of last year, entailing a comprehensive overhaul of the launcher's internal framework. Epic's leadership has highlighted the subpar user experience and notable lag issues plaguing the old launcher, expressing their unwavering commitment to effecting meaningful improvements.
