Apple is set to officially launch Apple Intelligence in the Chinese mainland this December, via the iOS 27.3 update. This suite of AI features was initially rolled out in the United States two years ago, but notably excludes the brand-new Siri AI assistant, which was rebuilt this year using Google's Gemini model, along with other fresh features. To ensure compliance, Apple has worked closely with Alibaba to develop a protection mechanism and has teamed up with Baidu to enhance the localization of search and Siri-related functions. Apple had previously delayed the Chinese launch several times, finally securing the necessary approvals on September 29th of this year. The initial release of Apple Intelligence in China will include fundamental features such as Genmoji (custom emojis), notification summaries, writing tools, and the capability to remove specific objects from photos. Given the highly competitive AI application market in China, it remains uncertain whether these basic features, which were introduced two years ago, will be able to carve out a unique niche.
