Doubao Mobile Assistant has unveiled a roster of 151 applications that have barred its automation functionalities, encompassing widely-used apps like WeChat, Taobao, and Meituan. These applications have declined to permit Doubao Mobile Assistant to automate tasks via GUI (Graphical User Interface) simulations, which mimic user interactions such as clicks and swipes. At present, the majority of prominent internet ecosystem firms are refusing to allow Doubao Mobile Assistant to integrate with them, spanning essential areas such as social networking, gaming, office productivity, e-commerce, and AI tools. This has curtailed Doubao Mobile Assistant's most appealing attribute—its ability to fully automate tasks across different apps—and has also adversely affected the core AI experience of Nubia smartphones equipped with the assistant. The SAEP protocol is designed to create a framework of rules that enables developers to independently determine AI operation permissions. Nevertheless, the unified refusal by mainstream apps presents a significant obstacle for Doubao Mobile Assistant. Should more apps persist in rejecting it, Doubao Mobile Assistant will face difficulties in constructing a comprehensive service ecosystem, and the strategy for implementing AI agents may necessitate revision. Industry experts highlight the profound ecological barriers that exist among internet giants, with each entity striving to retain control. GUI automation represents merely one of the capability avenues for AI mobile assistants, and without cross-app cooperation, it becomes challenging to realize a truly universal smartphone intelligent assistant.
