ByteDance's Seed division recently sent out an internal email, revealing the creation of a new department named 'Seed Model-alignment & Preparedness.' This department will be headed by Yan Lin and will report directly to Wu Yonghui, the leader of Seed. It brings together members from the former Responsible AI team and select individuals from the Chat team, with the goal of bolstering model safety and alignment capabilities. The primary objective of this department is to guarantee that model behavior is in line with human intentions and safety benchmarks. It places special emphasis on fortifying the security of Agent Models and minimizing capability risks in advanced domains such as Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) areas.
