Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan pointed out at the DBS Bank conference in Singapore that, affected by the continued constraints in the technology supply chain, the hardware shortage in the artificial intelligence industry will persist for the next two to three years. The widespread adoption of agent AI applications has driven demand for CPUs, aiding Intel's business recovery, with its data center and AI business unit revenue increasing by 59% year-on-year in the second quarter. In the field of AI training, the ratio of GPUs to CPUs has dropped from 8:1 to 4:1. Tan also mentioned that China's cutting-edge AI models have significantly lower token costs and perform well. He noted that while funding is the primary constraint during the AI infrastructure expansion phase, in the long run, demonstrating return on investment is crucial for maintaining investor confidence. Regarding quantum computing, Tan is optimistic, believing it is poised to move towards mainstream applications in the next three to five years, with the key to technology adoption lying in finding suitable implementation scenarios.
