Developer Maurice Hoyman led his team in spending three months utilizing multiple AI agents to decompile the 2009 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' and reconstruct it into C++ source code, consuming over 500 billion tokens in the process. In the first month of the project, four agents completed decompilation of approximately 80% of the functions, allowing the game to launch but with semantic errors in the code. Subsequently, the team introduced a byte-by-byte matching decompilation verification mechanism, ensuring validation effectiveness through multiple constraints. In the later stages of the project, 16 agents participated in submitting code, ultimately incorporating 99% of the game's functions into the reconstructed source code, with 83% achieving byte-by-byte matching. Complete matching was challenging due to the non-deterministic characteristics of some functions or influences from linker behavior. The reconstructed code will be used solely for private purposes and will not be made public.
