On September 29, according to a report by U.S. media outlet Semafor, Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas and chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, along with his Democratic collaborator Senator Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota, revealed that bipartisan negotiations in the Senate on artificial intelligence safety have currently stalled, with no actions to be taken at the committee level before the election. Klobuchar stated that she is still communicating with Republican senators, hoping to "pass robust AI safety safeguards by the end of this year." However, it remains unclear whether senators can propose a bipartisan-supported bill before the election. Cruz said, "It's possible, but not yet decided."
