Google has formally submitted appeals against two directives issued by the European Union (EU) in accordance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA). These directives mandate Google to grant access to certain service functionalities to its AI competitors and to share search data with rival search engines. Google has expressed concerns that, should these directives be enforced as intended, they would erode the safeguards for user privacy and compromise the security framework of Android devices. On Monday, Google initiated the appeals process with the EU's General Court, situated in Luxembourg, with the contested measures originally slated for implementation in the coming year. This legal action escalates the ongoing contention between Google and EU regulatory bodies regarding the extent and interpretation of the DMA.
