Musk has disclosed that the number of Nvidia chips within Colossus 2—the AI computing power cluster operated by his company, xAI—is projected to double by the end of the year. He has outlined a comprehensive timeline for the cluster's expansion in the Memphis region, underscoring his commitment to rapidly scaling up AI computing capabilities. In a recent post on the X platform, Musk detailed that Colossus 2 currently boasts 110,000 Nvidia GB200 chips and 440,000 GB300 chips. He further revealed that an additional 220,000 GB300 chips are set to be deployed next week, with another 220,000 expected to follow in November. Musk also mentioned that, should everything proceed according to plan, there could be yet another 220,000 chips added by late December.
