Early Friday morning Beijing time, veteran internet infrastructure company Akamai Technologies announced a seven-year, US$11.6 billion computing power supply partnership with AI firm Anthropic. Following the announcement, Akamai's stock price surged over 16% in after-hours trading in the US. Under the agreement, Akamai will support Anthropic's rapidly growing CPU workload demands through its distributed AI infrastructure and software within its cloud business. Additionally, there is room for the partnership to expand further, with the potential for an additional investment of up to US$9 billion, bringing the total potential commitment to approximately US$20 billion.
