On September 10th, during the main forum of the 2026 Bund Summit, Lu Chaoyang, Executive Dean of the Shanghai Research Institute at the University of Science and Technology of China, remarked that despite the intense competition in the field of quantum computing, the technology remains in its nascent stages. He emphasized that quantum computing is not an all-encompassing "super machine" capable of accelerating every task. Instead, it offers genuine speedups only for a select few problems characterized by specific mathematical structures. As of now, he pointed out, there is no broadly accepted evidence within the scientific community indicating that quantum computing has delivered tangible and practical acceleration in the financial sector. Similarly, there is no widely recognized quantum acceleration algorithm tailored for large-model training.
