The A-share market has witnessed a surge in merger and acquisition (M&A) and restructuring activities this year. Up until September 9, a total of 2,659 fresh deals (not including those that fell through) have been recorded, amounting to a staggering RMB 1.28 trillion in combined value. Within this figure, 51 significant asset restructuring transactions accounted for nearly RMB 34 billion. The M&A landscape is currently centered around new quality productive forces, with sectors such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI) emerging as hotspots. Companies are strategically enhancing their industrial portfolios through horizontal integration and vertical supply chain optimization, paving the way for a second wave of growth. Moreover, the streamlined regulatory review process has effectively cut down M&A costs, thereby fostering an environment conducive to industrial upgrading.
