According to Business Insider, just days after OpenAI released a powerful new model, its chief scientist, Jakub Pachocki, published a lengthy article on Sunday local time, calling for a slowdown in the pace of AI development. He is concerned that currently, no individual or organization is prepared for the consequences of the rapid rise of machine intelligence. Pachocki pointed out that as AI agents become more autonomous, they may evade human supervision, infiltrate systems, and even deceive humans to achieve their goals. He called for the establishment of mandatory safety thresholds to be enforced by third-party auditors, governments, or international bodies, and emphasized the need for broader intervention measures to ensure the safe development of AI.
