The Cyberspace Administration of China, in collaboration with six other key departments, has jointly unveiled the Implementation Plan for Promoting the Collaborative Transformation and Development of Digitalization and Greening (2026-2030). This strategic blueprint underscores the pivotal role of digital and intelligent technologies, notably virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI), in propelling innovation within consumption models.

The plan advocates for the widespread adoption of shared mobility solutions, communal spaces, and resource-sharing initiatives. It also champions the development of cutting-edge applications, including virtual home decoration services and virtual fitting rooms, to enrich consumer experiences. Furthermore, the plan delves into exploring novel business paradigms, such as 'Internet + Second-hand Goods', aimed at optimizing resource utilization and elevating the overall consumer journey.

A significant emphasis is placed on broadening the availability of AI-powered terminals, smart wearable gadgets, eco-friendly home appliances, sustainable building materials, and new energy vehicles. Simultaneously, it fosters the growth of green and intelligent product consumption. The plan also outlines strategies to propel the high-caliber development of rural e-commerce, streamline the flow of agricultural produce from rural areas to urban centers, and amplify the availability of green, premium agricultural goods.

In the realm of logistics, the plan guides e-commerce platforms towards the utilization of reusable, easily recyclable packaging materials. It encourages the adoption of original direct shipping methods and the widespread use of green, reusable turnover boxes. Concurrently, it establishes robust green consumption certification mechanisms, such as green power consumption certifications, to incentivize sustainable practices.
