Meta has notified engineers that performance evaluations will no longer be based on AI token usage. The new version of performance expectation guidelines, jointly released by executives, emphasizes work quality and actual impact, removing references to specific AI tools and directives for AI usage in particular tasks. The memo reveals that 93% of code changes within Meta are now assisted by AI agents. The company aims for higher-quality product delivery and faster iteration, rather than simply increasing AI adoption rates. Additionally, Meta manages AI usage through a unified AI GateWay platform, which automatically alerts on abnormal token expenditures. It is estimated that employee spending on AI tools will reach tens of billions of dollars this year.
