On August 31, 2026, the European Commission declared that, in compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA), ChatGPT, Reddit, and Roblox have been formally identified as entities subject to regulatory oversight. Since all three platforms boast an average monthly active user base exceeding 45 million within the EU—meeting the statutory threshold for classification—ChatGPT has been designated as a very large online search engine, while Reddit and Roblox are classified as very large online platforms. Following their inclusion on the list, the respective companies are now required to adhere to more stringent obligations concerning risk assessment, content moderation, and other responsibilities. They will be afforded a four-month transition period (lasting until the end of December 2026) to fulfill these additional compliance requirements.
