There is a prevailing societal belief that younger generations are more proficient in and attuned to AI technologies. However, recent research from Glassdoor, a prominent U.S. workplace research institution, reveals that employees aged between forty and sixty-plus exhibit the highest level of optimism regarding the opportunities presented by AI. This optimism is partly attributable to the fact that AI is generating more opportunities for seasoned professionals. Nearly half of Generation X employees hold a positive view of their company's adoption of AI, in contrast to only one-third of Generation Z employees who share this sentiment.

Chris Martin, a senior economist at Glassdoor, noted that employees over the age of 40 generally perceive that employers are capitalizing on the AI boom. In contrast, younger employees express concerns that AI may lead to a reduction in entry-level job opportunities. As AI technology continues to advance, the demand for experienced employees is on the rise. Job advertisements for senior positions have increased by 14.7%, while those for entry-level roles have seen a decline of 6.3%. Experienced workers are better positioned to leverage large language models effectively, as they possess the expertise to craft precise prompts and discern factual inaccuracies generated by AI.
