Wired magazine reports that OpenAI is developing a more proactive and persistent version of its flagship AI agent, Codex. According to changes in the product codebase reviewed by Wired, OpenAI has recently begun adding 'persistent mode' setting code to the Codex command-line tool. Code changes for the Codex command-line tool are publicly available by default, with new features typically appearing here first before being rolled out to other OpenAI agent products, such as the Codex desktop app and ChatGPT Work.
