NVIDIA is currently in the early stages of talks with Rebellions, a South Korean company specializing in AI chip design, to delve into possibilities including technology collaboration, investment, or even an acquisition. Senior representatives from both companies have already held meetings. Established in 2020, Rebellions is dedicated to developing AI inference NPUs tailored for data centers. To date, it has successfully raised approximately $850 million in funding, boasting a recent valuation of about $2.3 billion. The startup has garnered investments from the South Korean government as well as several businesses. Presently, both NVIDIA and Rebellions are still in the exploratory phase of discussions, and the outcome regarding whether a concrete agreement will materialize is yet to be determined. Moreover, any potential transaction could be subject to regulatory scrutiny in both the United States and South Korea. In recent years, NVIDIA has been strengthening its foothold in the AI sector through strategic investments, including a non-traditional deal previously struck with the U.S.-based AI company Groq.
