Google DeepMind announced today that the cumulative downloads of its Gemma open-source suite have surpassed the one billion mark for the first time. Gemma was first launched in February 2024 and reached this milestone after two and a half years. Currently, developers worldwide have created 100,000 derivative variants based on Gemma, which are being applied in various fields such as NASA satellites and 100 million mobile phones, marking a significant explosion in the Gemmaverse ecosystem.
