South Korea's Internet giant Kakao announced on Friday that it plans to split its main businesses, including the popular instant messaging service KakaoTalk, into two separate entities—KakaoAI and KakaoX—to enhance its artificial intelligence capabilities. The spin-off plan has been approved at a board meeting and is expected to be completed by January 1st next year, with KakaoAI set to be relisted on January 27th.
