Google has purchased a significant amount of de-identified business data, software code, and operational records from bankrupt airline Spirit Airlines Holdings for $10 million in a bankruptcy auction. This includes 100 million emails, 500 million Microsoft Teams chat and collaboration records, as well as information related to revenue, aircraft operations, and more. The data does not contain personal information such as passenger profiles or loyalty program records, and all personally identifiable information will be removed by a third party before transfer. Google plans to use these assets to improve its artificial intelligence technology.
