The US artificial intelligence company Anthropic plans to introduce invisible watermarking technology to identify AI-generated text. Starting with models released on and after August 2, text generated by Claude AI will be embedded with machine-readable watermarks that are imperceptible to humans and do not affect text quality or readability. The watermarks will persist even if the text is copied and pasted or lightly edited, but substantial rewriting or translation may disrupt them.
