At the stroke of midnight on August 10, Doubao, an AI assistant developed by ByteDance, officially embarked on its commercialization journey within the local life services domain. According to an announcement from Douyin's life service platform, hotel bookings initiated and finalized via the Doubao chat interface will now incur a comprehensive service fee of 12%. This fee comprises an 11.4% software service charge and a 0.6% payment processing levy. Prior to this change, hotel bookings generated through Doubao were lumped together with Douyin's organic traffic and settled at a uniform rate of 8%. Following the adjustment, the fee rate for orders originating from the Doubao channel has been elevated to 12%, with the source distinctly marked in the settlement system. The PR representative of Doubao clarified that the life services segment does not engage in paid promotions, and merchants are unable to sway recommendation rankings through monetary means. Instead, they are only required to pay channel service fees once transactions are successfully concluded. Presently, Doubao has forged transactional links for hotels, air tickets, and certain scenic spot tickets, with hotel booking services being facilitated by providers such as Douyin and Dianping.
