NVIDIA's Kyber Cabinet Revealed: Total Memory Soars to 340.4TB, Cost May Reach Up to $41.6 Million

According to the latest reports from BofA Securities and UBS Group, the hardware costs and memory configurations of NVIDIA's Vera Rubin Ultra architecture-based Kyber cabinet system have undergone significant changes due to rising storage chip prices and architectural adjustments. Notably, procurement spending on LPDDR5X memory has surpassed HBM4e for the first time, becoming the primary cost component. Specifically, the RubinUltraKyber rack is expected to be priced at over $21 million (approximately RMB 142 million), with the soaring cost of HBM4e memory being the main driver of the price increase. The RubinUltraV300 model integrates 576GB of HBM4e memory per GPU, and the NVL144Kyber rack adopts a 144-GPU architecture, causing the total HBM cost per single cabinet to surge to $1.534 million, accounting for 7.3% of the overall system price. Meanwhile, to address memory shortages and price hikes, NVIDIA is significantly reducing memory usage in the Vera Rubin NV72 rack, such as halving the SOCAMM capacity to 96GB, reducing the accompanying memory for Vera CPUs to 28TB, and retaining 20.7TB of HBM4 memory per rack for GPUs. Additionally, memory costs now account for a staggering 62% of the total system cost in the Vera Rubin system, making it the most expensive component.
