On July 31, the European Commission revealed that, commencing August 2, its AI Office will collaborate with the competent authorities of member states to enforce pertinent provisions outlined in the AI Act. These new regulations mandate that specific AI systems must explicitly notify users when they are engaging with AI and clarify whether the content has been generated or altered by AI technology. In particular, interactive AI systems, exemplified by chatbots, are required to disclose their non-human nature; content produced or edited by AI, including deepfake images, videos, and audio, must be clearly marked. Furthermore, content generated or modified by AI should incorporate machine-readable indicators to facilitate tracking. The European Commission emphasized that these initiatives are designed to minimize deception and manipulation, empower the public to make well-informed decisions, and offer businesses unambiguous compliance directives.
