Based on insights from three individuals with inside knowledge of the situation, the Trump administration is on the verge of finalizing a voluntary regulatory framework for artificial intelligence (AI). This framework mandates that AI companies must submit their most advanced AI models to the U.S. government for pre-release evaluation. Roughly two weeks prior, the White House Office of the National Cyber Director circulated a draft of this framework to leading AI entities—OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. In response, these three firms collaboratively proposed a series of amendments.
