On July 27th, the Caixin Roundtable-AI Series Event, centered around the theme of "The Next Stop for the End Device Industry in the Era of Intelligent Agents", took place in Beijing. The attendees delved into comprehensive discussions regarding the influence of intelligent agent technology on the end device industry, as well as the market potential for personal AI end devices. It is projected that 2026 will serve as a pivotal turning point in the evolution of intelligent agents, where AI will metamorphose from a mere tool into an autonomous action system, and the industry will transition from the technological infrastructure phase to the explosive growth phase of application scenarios.
During the event, the white paper titled "From AI Devices to Personal AI: The Evolution of End Devices and Industrial Restructuring Driven by Intelligent Agents", which was commissioned by Qualcomm and researched by IDC, was unveiled. Wang Jiping, the Vice President of IDC China, remarked that the AI supercycle is propelling transformations in the end device market, with personal AI emerging as the linchpin for end device growth. This growth is underpinned by an edge-cloud collaborative architecture and four technological pillars. Zhu Yuankun, a product technology expert from Qualcomm, presented Qualcomm's comprehensive full-stack AI solution tailored for the era of intelligent agents, underscoring the significance of edge-cloud collaboration and ecological cooperation.
In the course of the roundtable discussion, the guests concurred that the essence of the end device industry is undergoing a shift from hardware to AI itself. Smartphones and smart glasses are poised to become the primary carriers or crucial entry points for personal AI. The underlying computing architecture plays a pivotal role, and industrial ecological collaboration is deemed essential for the large-scale deployment of intelligent agents. Qualcomm has articulated a vision of forging a "user-centric ecosystem" and pledged to collaborate with all stakeholders to foster innovation and facilitate the implementation of personal AI.
