On July 24, Chey Tae-won, the head of SK Group, and Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, dined together in Woodside, California, USA. The two parties delved into discussions on cooperation topics, including the development of next-generation memory and investment in AI infrastructure, and reaffirmed their long-term cooperation intentions. Their goal is to bolster collaboration within the AI supply chain and drive forward the implementation of AI cooperation projects that were agreed upon during Huang's visit to South Korea in June. According to the cooperation blueprint, SK Hynix will team up with NVIDIA to co-develop next-generation memory products. Meanwhile, SK Telecom will partner with NVIDIA to accelerate the construction of infrastructure for embodied AI and robotics technology, with plans to set up an AI factory in South Korea. Moreover, NVIDIA will also foster AI ecosystem cooperation with the South Korean government, enterprises, and research institutions at the AI Summit in San Francisco. It has also established South Korea's first AI research center, a joint venture between a university and a global tech enterprise, in collaboration with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. It's noteworthy that Chey's visit to the US is part of a collective trip by high-ranking figures from South Korea's tech industry. Leaders from South Korean companies such as Samsung and Hyundai are also engaging in talks in Silicon Valley. South Korean President Lee Jae-myung will attend the AI Summit and meet with business leaders in the global AI arena. South Korean political and business circles are intensifying their AI strategy (or "AI deployment") through coordination (or "collaboration") to secure a competitive edge in the AI industry chain.
