On January 8, 2026, OpenAI, the renowned artificial intelligence company, unveiled a new Health feature for its chatbot, ChatGPT. This innovative addition was made available to all users aged 18 and over, encompassing those on the free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. The primary objective of this feature is to create a dedicated and secure environment for health-related conversations, empowering users to analyze their medical test results, prepare effectively for medical appointments, and receive tailored advice on diet and exercise regimens. By seamlessly integrating data from Apple Health, electronic medical records from select U.S. hospital systems, and platforms such as One Medical and Function Health with ChatGPT Health, users can access personalized health guidance. In a bid to safeguard user privacy, the content of health-related conversations is stored separately and will not be utilized to train the foundational AI model. OpenAI engaged in extensive consultations with over 260 doctors and developed the Health Bench evaluation framework to bolster the professionalism and safety standards of this feature, aligning with best practices in the healthcare industry and ensuring user trust.
