In the latest Windows 11 preview build, Microsoft has added a Copilot button and an 'Open File Location' button to the File Explorer homepage. When users hover their mouse over a file, an 'Ask Copilot' option appears in the context menu, allowing direct transition from the file to an AI conversation without needing to open the file first. However, practical testing reveals that clicking the Copilot button only launches the standalone application without identifying the file source or transferring file information. Even if this issue is resolved in the future, questions remain about its practicality in handling complex files. Currently, the button has a low profile, and users are calling on Microsoft to provide an option to disable it.
