After Microsoft shifted its Copilot Cowork service to a pricing model based on token consumption, it has shown strong interest in Chinese open-source models due to their potential to significantly reduce inference costs. According to recent reports, Microsoft may introduce Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 model into Copilot, a move that could draw dissatisfaction from the Trump administration. The Kimi K3 model boasts a massive 2.8 trillion parameters, supports multimodality, and features a context window of approximately 1 million tokens. Its performance rivals that of similar products while offering certain speed advantages. By adopting this model, Microsoft could save up to $600 million in inference costs.
