On the 16th, the signing ceremony for the Agreement on the Establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization was held in Shanghai. Delegates from 29 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe gathered to sign the agreement in person, officially becoming founding member states. According to reports, this event marks a significant milestone in the establishment of the organization, an initiative championed by China. Going forward, China will collaborate closely with the founding member states to expedite the operationalization of the organization. Looking ahead, the cooperation organization will concentrate on three key areas of work:
First, it will place a strong emphasis on bolstering international cooperation in AI capacity building. By facilitating policy exchanges, technical collaboration, personnel training, and joint research, the organization aims to enhance the accessibility of AI technologies and services, ensuring that developing countries can equitably benefit from the new wave of intelligence.
Second, leveraging communication, dialogue, and the sharing of best practices, the organization will act as a platform for matching supply and demand. It will promote the deep integration of advantageous resources across countries, advance “AI+” initiatives tailored to national conditions, strengthen technology and industrial cooperation, encourage the co-creation of open-source ecosystems, and deliver tangible cooperation outcomes.
Third, the organization will firmly uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, support the UN in playing a more prominent role, implement the Global Digital Compact and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and advocate for the establishment of a fair and equitable global AI governance system.
