On Wednesday, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella criticized Anthropic’s approach of enforcing extensive restrictions on queries submitted to its advanced AI model, Fable, calling the practice unreasonable. Addressing Microsoft Copilot’s R&D engineers, Nadella noted that Fable frequently and unreasonably rejects a wide range of instructions, raising questions about why a tool designed for creativity should be subjected to such strict content controls. According to the technical support page, when users pose questions to Fable about large-scale model construction, Anthropic sometimes resorts to using an older version of the model to generate responses.
